SCHEDULE CHANGE

Dear Transylvania County Schools Families and Staff,

Due to the significant winter weather our area has experienced this school year, the school board voted on Monday to make an additional adjustment to our school calendar.

State calendar law limits school systems to only 5 remote learning days per school year, and we have now used our allotted remote learning days due to weather-related closures. To ensure that our students receive the required in-person instructional time, 10 minutes will be added to each school day beginning on March 23. This is intended to prevent the use of Saturday school, or an extended calendar, if more inclement weather comes our way this year.

These 10 minutes will be broken up and added to instructional time throughout the day. Each principal will provide a schedule for parents.

How this will impact dismissal time: Starting March 23, students will be dismissed 10 minutes later than the regular schedule.

Afternoon buses will run 10 minutes later than the regular bus schedule. Morning bus routes are not impacted by this change.

Reminder | Friday, May 1 will be a full instructional day.

We recognize that this change may require adjustments to family schedules, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these weather-related changes together.

If you have questions regarding this schedule change, please contact your school's main office.

Sincerely,
Transylvania County Schools
