DEMONSTRATION SPEECHES (5th grade show and tell): Students have been given the guidelines for a demonstration speech that they will be giving before the end of the year. Please look over the guidelines with them and help them decide what they will demonstrate to the class. Their idea and your signature are due Tuesday. On Tuesday they will sign up to do their speech on either Friday or Monday.

CS: Playing With Words: Reading Selections and Misspelled words list, test Thursday.

AR Goals: 100% Due Wednesday. Time is tight. I was thinking of an after school outing to my house either Wednesday or Thursday. We could play with stuff at my house and maybe have a cooking class, learning to make something for dinner and of course cookies too.
Math: Playing With Numbers: Reviewing our mathematical knowledge: Homework on Monday night to shift our brains to math!!
Students can practice on First In Math and IXL at home on the computer!!
Review: geometry, angles, quadrilaterals, perimeter, area, volume, measurement: length, capacity, mass, temperature (metric and customary), time; expressions, equations, functions, simplifying fractions, finding common denominators, understanding common denominators, adding and subtracting fractions, multiplying and dividing fractions; division, multiplication of whole numbers and decimals; multiples, factors, primes, composites; adding and subtracting decimals and whole numbers
SS: We will be looking at history in the 20th century: WWI, WWII, and up to the present.
End of the Year Activities: in addition to the demonstration speeches we hope to: learn to fold paper cranes, build a geo dome, write to our pen pals in Sri Lanka, finish our crazy "going to middle school" read aloud, write thank you notes to our elementary school teachers, watch Alice in Wonderland. Oh, can we do it all!!?
