NC School Report Cards
Thursday, October 25, 2012

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Partners:

Transylvania County Schools is proud to once again make available North Carolina School Report Cards for the school district and for your child's individual school. These annual reports of school performance across our state are prepared in conjunction with federal and state public reporting efforts and are made available by the North Carolina State Board of Education through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

North Carolina School Report Cards are our state's one-stop-shop and best online resource for school information. Parents, community members, business leaders, state and local government officials, and other stakeholders may use them to engage in conversations about public education with principals, teachers, and other school leaders.

North Carolina School Report Cards provide a single source of data about student achievement and attendance, class size, school safety, teacher quality, school technology, and other important features of our state’s public and charter schools. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students, educators, and schools, and this year's school report cards detail many of our successes.

This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of school integration in Transylvania County and our being the first county across our state to do so.  Never a stranger to firsts, Transylvania County Schools continues to be among the leading school systems in our state. With both our traditional high schools helping students consistently achieve some of the highest proficiency rates in our state, high graduation rates, and low dropout rates, our schools represent the very best in our county’s future, both educationally and culturally. Transylvania County Schools is also home to the highest achieving alternative school in North Carolina. Our outstanding elementary and middle schools build the strong foundation necessary for our high schools to educate the leaders of today and tomorrow. As a result, our school system is our county's single most important partner in strong local economic development.

We encourage you to access North Carolina School Report Cards for our school district using the links below and to contact the principal at your child's school with any questions you may have. As always, thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We are honored and proud that you are a part of our family in Transylvania County Schools, home to the very best in pre-K through grade 12 schooling in our county.

Sincerely,

Jeff McDaris, Ed.D.
Superintendent
