Students selected for Transylvania County’s new Honors Science Research Course recently traveled to the Raleigh/Durham area to observe the North Carolina Student Academy of Science project presentations and the North Carolina State Science and Engineering Fair. During the trip, students gained experience with state level competitions as well as ideas for projects they will pursue in the upcoming year. The new Honors Science Research Course will replace the current TIME program as student research transitions from exclusively after school into the classroom during the school day. Partners supporting the new class include Transylvania County Schools and 4H Youth Development/NC Cooperative Extension. The program is funded by a generous grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
