T.C. Henderson's Student Forum organization decided that their school needed a new school flag designed by one of their very own students. Therefore, they created a student contest in hopes of adopting a new flag.
All students were invited to design their own school flag and to turn in their entries to their Student Forum Representative by February 4th. The only guidelines: the flag must utilize the school colors orange and black, say T.C. Henderson on it somewhere, and the design must be one that is simple enough to be made into a flag. Over fifty student entries were turned in! Many of them were simply outstanding, which made picking one winner very difficult!
During the 2nd Quarter Awards Ceremony held on Friday, February 11th, the winner was announced! The winner is a fifth grader in Mrs. Axtell’s classroom. He was very excited and proud when he heard his name announced as the winner! As a result of his flag being selected, the student received a $25 gift card to O.P. Taylor’s in Brevard.
His flag design will be made into a school flag which will fly every day at T.C. Henderson, just under the U.S. And N.C. State flags. The students name and graduating class will also be stitched into the flag for all to see! Later in the spring, when the flag is completed, T.C Henderson will have an official flag dedication ceremony!
