Welcome to Music at BES! Music class is a place where students can explore, create, express themselves, listen, sing, play, and have fun!
Every student at Brevard Elementary participates in music once a week for 50-55 minutes. The North Carolina music curriculum is based on a new curriculum called The New Essential Standards.
Music Curriculum Goals:
~to read music
~to sing and play instruments
~to respond to music through movement, listening, discussion, and other
modes of expression
~to understand connections with music and other subject areas
~to create music
Highlights:
- class recorder lessons, beginning in 3rd grade
- class mountain dulcimer lessons, 4th grade
- class keyboard lessons, 5th grade
- frequent visiting guest artists
- class musicals presented for parents and students
